    Blue Blazes

    Monday, February 18, 2008, 10:51 PM [General]

If you've been reading my blogs you know we are doing some clearing and brush burning. We were cooking brats on the grill and it was dark and cold so Bill lit the brush pile in the back yard.

We needed some heat while the brats sizzled on the grill.

And you also know that where ever I go theres a camera in my hand. So I took a couple of photos of the fire. No big deal. Here's the first one.

You can see theres not much time from one photo to the next as you can see the same sticks in each photo, but the color of the flames changed. Sorta a blueish cast. Oh there's no magic or mystery, on the first photo I did not use a flash and on the second photo I did. What a difference in photos tho.

Been working on my fairy house again (laying rock) Just keeping you all caught up on the action or lack of here abouts.

The moon this night was beautiful. I hope that we get to see Wensdays Eclipse

    Our World

    Friday, February 15, 2008, 10:33 AM [General]

Stephen clearing a spot for the riverboat. (I'm a lumber jack and I'm OK)

    I'm supervising

Meanwhile back at the ranch, someone has lit the fire for lunch......

we will cook hot dogs on the fire, actually you just put a small wire rack on the top and lay your hot dogs on it with an occasional turn they are yummy.

Warm afternoon sun was a welcome visitor to our deck as we relaxed and ate our lunch. After lunch it was back to work for the crew, but I found some time to sit and soak up the sunshine.

Later that evening........ a soak in the hot tub.

And tomorrow we get to do it all over again,,,,,,,,,if we are lucky.

    Counting Lucky Stars

    Thursday, February 7, 2008, 09:24 AM [General]

One thing we've always done, is respected the weather, We keep an eye to the sky at all times.

And with the weather that went through the area a day or two ago we are still counting our lucky stars. This rash of storms tore through Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee, I think Kentucky got part of it too. To those whose lives were shaken by this event we send blessings for hope and healing. This is what we saw of the storm.

this photo is as we were going to the shelter at the court house in Mtn Home.

It's taken toward the north sky at about 5pm. We stayed in the shelter elbow to elbow, standing in the basement of the courthouse, as long as I could stand it and then we made our way to the car to go home. It was still raining hard but the blunt of the storm had passed Mtn. Home over.

We went home and listened to the radio reporting damage from neighboring areas. Gassville took a direct hit. Here are some of the photos from that area. Gassville is 9 miles away from Mtn. Home.

The next day we drove through the area this is what we saw.

There was two deaths and some were missing but they may have been accounted for by now.

Our hearts go out to those folks.

    Egg- citing

    Saturday, February 2, 2008, 08:51 PM [General]

Oh I know I'm jumping the gun a bit , but if you are going to craft something you need a bit of time to do so. Crafting keepsake eggs was going to be one of our crafts for Imbloc. We didn't get to meet so I made a few for ideas and examples. I found one thing out. I'm not the nimble fingered crafter I used to be. They were fun to make the drying paint took the longest. With rub ons and stick on flowers and some razzle dazzle you can make some cute cutouts. Here are a few of my first attempts.

I took blown washed eggs and painted them.

Decorated to suit me and threaded a ribbon through secured with heartshape bead.

Foam shapes and stick on flowers make it easy.

I put rub on stickers inside the eggs, and made a dangle out of a butterfly charm, topped with flowers made it cute.

I went around the opening with paper cut from a doily.

This one in front has fish stickers on a painted lake.

    Hope you like them.
